Ahnkah Sekmet, At a time, she had no name, so she was taken in by a research crew working to uncover abnormalities in records. They had reason to believe there was a magic that prevailed the world and was affecting the perception of reallity. A couple of researchers had had a child recently, and were planning on attempting to use their child to teach time from birth to become as powerful a mage as possible, in order to be able to combat a spell powerful enough to linger globally. Ahnkah had been brought in for research due to nobody having any knowledge of her family or name, but, it was clear that she had to have some history somewhere.
The Galdare's child was outperformed by Ahnkah in intial testing and learning, she seemed to revel in extremely streneous training while the Galdare's child was distressed, confused why his parents would subject him to this. And so, Ahnkah became the primary subject for the experiment, the Galdare's child was removed from the program and became Ahn's only real friend. Though, not for long, the researchers were raided by an organisation and had to flee and relocate, in the time, the Galdare's child was taken elsewhere, while Ahnkah and the researchers relocated to a special island shrouded in Obscurance magic.
Ahnkah continued her training, and by adolescence she was already a better mage than any of the researchers, by the time she reached adulthood she had a higher level of knowledge and intellect than anyone around her. The secret to her progress was her latent magic, adhesion, which in her case, allowed her to increase the rate at which information and skills 'stuck' to her. With her power and intellect she and the few remaining researchers (many left for various reasons, including that Ahnkah was extremely harsh and serious, and invalidated their existence with her skills and knowledge) had made a breakthrough. What was being fundamentally altered was the memories of the people in the world.
With this knowledge, and thanks to the person that had brought it to them, Ahn set out to develop a special spell pattern. A 'Forget'me'knot', based on her own special ability, the forget'me'knot was a tattoo that could be applied to a person, to prevent them from forgetting anything, by creating sub-networks of looping, self checking mental activity that would store and re-reference information about a person's memories to keep them salient and prevent detoriation.
She was confident in her Schema, but, the forget'me'knot was not something that one could apply to themself, so Ahn requested the help of the only person she had grown to trust, and grown to care for, someone who'se skills of subderfuge had been responsible for the critical breakthrough that allowed them to uncover this secret of the memory altering spell. But she was betrayed. Once she had let down her guard, and undone the layers of protective magic she had woven around herself, the mark that was applied was warped and manipulated. While the base function was the same, her forget'me'knot was modified with a critical flaw, she would retain all memories, but they would be seperate from her ability to access. She was quick to realize things were wrong, but was so affected by the procedure that after she escaped from her 'friend' she was only able to salvage herself with a desperate alteration to the mark. Her conscious mind was already in a ruined state, so she did her best to preserve her subconscious mind, making a single link to allow her subconscious to over-write her conscious in desperate times.
And so, Ahnkah's mind was broken.
Ahn woke up in a strange yet familiar place, with the profound feeling she had lost something. She looked around the magical research facility, understanding what everything was, but that none of those things were what she was looking for, so she left the facility, then the island. She didn't know what she was looking for, but she knew she'd know when she found it.
As she traveled the world, she often found herself in trouble. But how could she be to blame, if didn't want wards circumvented, they shouldn't make them so simple. People would ask her questions; "Where are you from?" Which is totally not their business "Do you need any help?" Yeah right, like she needed anyone to help her, everyone else was incompetent "Are you okay?" Okay? Ahn was fantastic, far better than everyone else, THEY were the ones that are simply, OKAY "Why are you acting like a child?" What does that even mean? Like a child, children were the only honest people anyway. "What are you doing in my house?" Isn't it obvious, trying to find that thing that she lost, which, clearly wasn't here, so thanks for wasting my time. "Are you alone?" Ew, get away from me creep, it's better to stay alone, nobody to muck things up for you.
Ahn never really got why people always asked so many questions, she hardly ever had questions, she already knew the answers, they were usually pretty obvious. It was also so strange how many girls seemed to like being around guys. Like, clearly, you can't trust guys, they are just waiting for you to let your guard down to stab you in the back. Well, she wouldn't make that mistake. Ever. She was smarter than that. Guard up, keep searching.
Ahn travelled the world alone.
While Ahn herself was an academic before she lost her mind and memory, she was quite proficient due to her lineage, in sort of an opposite way to Alex, because she had a real intuative understanding of many types of magic she didn't have to learn the academic details a much to perform spellcasting
