Demons are creatures of Soul, creatures of emotion and personality that exist of a material that does not have 'physical form' but is an energy for change and control.

Demons are classified into stages based on their evolution path. Possession is important for a demon to develop an individual personality, but their pure tone still drives them very much on that emotional path.

When a demon possesses a person, the 'soul' of the demon attempts to metabolise the 'soul' of the person. If they do, the demon can claim their body, in doing this the demon's personality will be shaped by the soul of who they consume, meaning they can return to the demonic world with a more robust personality.

Many demons are under the influence of a force known as 'The Will', a sort of guiding thought. Many Devils seek to resist the influence of the will.

If a person uses Demonic Magic, their mind is said to be affected by The Will

## Wisp of Will

Demons start of as a Wisp of Will which are strands of emotion generated in the abyss, they will feed on eachother and collect to form a Soulid.

At this stage, Deamons are thoughtless, eating and feeding like plankton.

## Soulid

As they collect more soul and emotional energy, they become a Soulid, starting to take on a physical form, but still act beastially.

## Imp

The next stage of demonic development is an Imp or Impulse.

An Imp can be thought of as a demonic child, they have thoughts and can form memories, they act on their emotion purely and still canibalise lesser demons, until they have cultivated enough to become a Demi.

## Demi

A Demi is a developed Imp that is at the power amount where it is presented with a choice, it is now strong enough to risk exposure to the light world, and as such could attempt Possession. But, this is a risk, as the demi is now self aware and risks destruction if Possession fails. If a demi avoids Possession and collects more power, it will reach a point where the soul is over-developed and Possession would no longer be possible.

## Paths of Development

At the Demi stage, demons can develop in two different ways, on the Demon / Devil path, or the Fiend / Levia path.

Conventionally called demons, then later Devils, represent the style of demons that have sought to develop a more rounded Soul and personality.

To develop in this way, as a Demi the demon needs to possess a living thing, which changes the shape of it's Soul, after this Possession they become a Possessed

While Possessed the demon continues to develop power, feeding on emotions of surrounding people, often causing suffering to fuel their own strength.

While Possessed the demon is still able to leave its current host and attempt to possess another.

But they reach a power point where they become too linked to leave their original body, and would be too powerful to not destroy a new host body - this is called an Arch Demon.

Arch Demons remain in the Aether until they have gained enough power such that they cannot gain more, and return to the Abyss as Devils.

The strongest of each devil type is known as the Arch Devil of that type, for example the Arch Devil: Absolution of Despair

When a demon remains in the abyss or otherwise does not possess a living creature, it doesn't develop a complex personality.

When they have developed too much power to successfully possess any more, these types of demons are called Fiends

They continue to grow in size and power through stages of Arch Fiend, Levia then Leviathane.

The largest and most powerful of each Leviathane is known as the Arch Leviathane of that type, for example, The Endless Serpent the Arch Leviathane of Envy

Based on emotions, demons are roughly sorted into the following types: Demon Type / Emotion: Rage - Demon Affinity: Entrophy - Tainted Gemstone: Ruby

Demon Type / Emotion: Envy - Demon Affinity: Self - Tainted Gemstone: Emerald

Demon Type / Emotion: Despair - Demon Affinity: Arcane - Tainted Gemstone: Sapphire

Demon Type / Emotion: Denial - Demon Affinity: Obliteration - Tainted Gemstone: Jasper

Demon Type / Emotion: Suffering - Demon Affinity: Diminishment - Tainted Gemstone: Carnelian

Demon Type / Emotion: Hatred - Demon Affinity: Mortality - Tainted Gemstone: Garnet

Demon Type / Emotion: Insanity - Demon Affinity: Causality - Tainted Gemstone: Zircon

While there are 11 types of demons, there are 12 Arch Devils and 12 Arch Leviathane, the 12th is not "of" anything, just The Arch Devil or The Arch Leviathane
