Short stories & passages of mythology in Aetherbound
This story is often told to help children remember the days of a Tenday, note that in written form of dates, Firstday is denoted with a 0. This is because the first day there was nothing.
This story is from a very old time, before the Gods died rising the islands of the world into the sky to escape from The Abyss.
On the first day the Gods appeared from nothing, in an empty universe with only the Old God. This is known as Origination
With they they brought their power, the power of creation.
As beings of power, they began to plan what it was they wanted to create. The Four Gods would create all that was, while they Old God would set aside space for their creations.
The first thing the Four Gods made was the Sun.
By the harmonious combination of their magics, the Sun was manifested as a Source of the magic of the Four Gods, as they had each placed part of themselves with in.
With this, the Firstday was over, it was now Sunsday
The first attempt of the Four Gods to create the world on which life would bloom was not a success.
This was the end of Sunsday and the start of Moonsday
The Moon was created too small, too slow, and so it fell into the Sun, taking with it part of the Sun's power. This is why the Moon has a Lunar Scar.
The Old God noticed the mistake of the Four Gods and retrieved the Moon, holding it away and advising the Four Gods on how to best try again.
As thanks for his kindness, the Four Gods granted the Old God the moon as a gift. The Old God was not used to the light of the sun, and so oriented the Moon to only ever face the sun on one side, so he could shelter on the other side.
With guidance from the Old God the Four Gods started to create the Erth and fill it with their magics.
The Erth was created, marking the end of Moonsday.
At first, the Four Gods worked alone, placing the Mono Magics, the Mono Sources and the Great Forces of their own kind into the world.
Then, they started to collaborate with one another, creating the Mixed Magics, the Mixed Sources and the Great Forces of their mixed kinds into the world.
The Erth was created, but filled with magic it could not yet support life.
However, from his seat upon the Moon the Old God set up the space of the universe to help siphon the magic upon the Erth to prevent it from destroying itself.
At first, the siphoning set up by the Old God was too great, but the Four Gods understood the need. So the went to work upon the sky. Ending Erthsday
On this day the Four Gods created the skies and air to act as an insulating space to help capture and process the magic from the Sun, and act as a barrier against the siphoning magic of space.
With the sky completed, the Erth began to heat. While there was balance between the magic flow of the Sun, Erth and space, the heat from the Sun was too great.
But the Four Gods came up with a creative solution, they would fill the Erth with water, so that the world could be cooled.
This was the end of Kysday.
And so, the Sea was created, and the water from the sea would take the heat into the sky for it to be taken away by space, before returning to the ground again.
Now that the Erth could finally sustain life, the Four Gods set about creating creatures to inhabit it.
This was the end of Ceasday.
The Four Gods created the Great Beasts, granting their first living creations immortality, and entrusting the protection of the Erth to them.
Once the Great Beasts had been created, the Four Gods created the lesser beasts and creatures to fill out the world with beings able to interact with it.
As the Four Gods created living beings, they began to desire to create something more powerful and majestic to their first creations.
This marked the end of Beasday
As an avatar for each of the Basic Affinities, the Four Gods created the 12 Grand Dragons, granting them immortality as they had to the Great Beasts.
The children of the Grand Dragons, the High Dragons became then avatars of each Compound Affinities, and these and their First Born Dragons were also granted immortality by the Four Gods
The Four Gods were dissatisfied with their creations. The beings they had made were living and acting, but only in ways that did not surprise the Four Gods, they wanted beings that could beings that would interact and change the world for themselves.
And so, they asked the Old God for help, ending Drasday
The Old God used their power to suffuse the world with change. But the Four Gods wanted more, so they worked with the Old God to create the Alf.
The Alf were created in pairs for each Composite Affinity, and granted immortality.
The Alf were different to the other creatures of the world, as they had power personalities that subverted the expectations of the Four Gods, eventually forming the 12 Alfir Clans, each with 6 of the Alf Pairs.
The Four Gods were sufficiently interested by the creations in their world, content to take a back seat and observe the actions of their beings.
The Alf, Dragons and Beasts were intermingling and creating new life on their own.
So, the Four Gods made a decree. In their decree they informed their creations that they were to inherit the world with full independence.
This was to be known as the Decree of Inheritance. Marking the end of Alfsday
